CreditDevice employs people with diverse backgrounds and passions. One of those people is Joey Ouwehand, service consultant and avid Telstar supporter. We spoke to him about his work, the challenges he faces and, of course, his love for the club from Velsen.
A working day full of puzzles
Joey’s work days are never the same. “It totally depends on the questions that come in, bugs that need to be fixed or explanations that customers need. Every day I start in Zendesk and work through questions – from technical issues to consulting calls,” Joey says. “Sometimes I have meetings with customers about new integrations or internal meetings with consultants who need support.”
What he particularly appreciates in his work is the diversity. “I love to puzzle. At first you don’t understand something at all, but then you dive in, try things out and eventually find a solution. That’s really satisfying,” he says with a smile. Customer contact and helping to set up new administrations also make the work varied and interesting.
Challenges in depth
Of course, his role also brings challenges. “Sometimes you get questions about subjects you know little about. Then it’s frustrating if you can’t help immediately when you would like to. And there are also issues that require in-depth discussion, but there is not always the time for that.” Still, he remains positive: “In the end, you learn from every situation and take that knowledge back to the next time.”
From joke to passion: Telstar
Joey’s club love for Telstar began in an unexpected way. “It was actually a joke that got out of hand. Two friends of mine wanted to buy a season ticket at a local club. ADO Den Haag didn’t attract me that much, so we chose Telstar – the second closest club. We went for the beer and to watch a bit of soccer, but it became so much fun that I kept going.”
Meanwhile, Joey has been a loyal supporter for 3.5 years. “I’m always there, home and away, even during the two difficult years,” he says proudly. And then there was that magical day: June 1, 2025. “Willem II away, we win 1-3 and get promoted to the Eredivisie. I never thought I would ever stand at a Telstar inauguration!”
Work and passion in balance
His work at CreditDevice and his love for Telstar go hand in hand. Joey finds it important to be involved, whether with customers or with his club. That dedication makes him a valuable colleague as well as a true supporter.
